“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” - Jim Rohn
When building your business and brand, we can pull inspiration from a plethora of different places. Podcasts, mentors, coaches, shows… all of these things can help you learn and grow your entrepreneurial journey. One of our favorite ways to soak in all the knowledge of those before us is through good old fashioned book reading. And as entrepreneurs ourselves, we know that finding the right books helps save a ton of time.
Here is a short list of a few of our current favorites:
1) Radical Candor: Be a Kickass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity” by Kim Scott is a practical guide for effective management and leadership. This book introduces a leadership approach that combines caring personally with challenging directly. Touching on other subjects such as navigating tough conversations and creating high performance cultures, this book truly helps set you AND your team up for success.
2) “Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business” by Gino Wickman is perfect for entrepreneurs seeking to achieve more control and organization in their businesses. Wickman introduces an “operating system” that helps entrepreneurs gain clarity, focus, and traction in their business endeavors. What we love about this book is that it gives actionable advice to its readers and guides them through practical implementation techniques to help grow and scale.
3) Atomic Habits by James Clear isn’t technically a business building book, but the techniques and strategies in this book translate beautifully into entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs often wear multiple hats and Atomic Habits helps them optimize their routines, leading to personal growth and better decision-making. Owning a business is a journey of consistent effort. Clear’s focus on small, daily habits aligns perfectly with the entrepreneurial mindset.
There are a million other amazing entrepreneurial authors, and a trillion other business books out there on the market. The best time to start reading and expanding your knowledge base is now! We promise you, there is something out there to help whatever it is that you are going through, in the exact moment you are going through it!
Always remember to shop small. Our favorite local bookstore is Fenton’s Open Book in downtown Fenton, MI. The ladies can order anything you need.
